On Saturday, my family and friends participated in the March for Babies in Dallas, Texas at White Rock Lake. This is my team’s, Team Evan’s Honor’s, fifth year walking and collecting donations for the March of Dimes.
I heard about people having preemie babies, but had never really been around to know what families go through and how hard it is on everyone involved. Until it happened to me. I never expected it and definitely was not prepared for it. My son, Evan was born at 24 weeks gestation weighing in at 1 pound 3 ounces (that is 19 ounces, just a little more than a bottle of water or a little less than a soda!) on August 5, 2008. He wasn’t just a preemie, he was a micro preemie! He was so tiny, but he was a fighter. My little one fought for six months in the hospital before he passed away.
That is why we walk to support the March for Babies. Maybe, they will be able to help ensure that other families do not have to go through what my family did. Evan’s Honor was established in 2010 (a year after he passed away) to honor the memory of Evan Arthur Lovell Morris and we have been participating in March for Babies every year since then.
I would like to thank everyone for supporting my family and Team Evan’s Honor with your kind words, donations, and presence at the March for Babies. I will be back next year asking for donations and walkers to join us in helping fight for healthy babies. http://www.marchforbabies.org/mmorris
